Power source?

Post by cameron »

Hi, got some oxford heated grips off a guy from work, thought I might as well give them a go, my hands were completetly numb when I got back earlier lol. Obviously the crm doesn't have a battery so where's best to connect it to? Says on the box it only draws 4A so not too excessive, would imagine the alternator should be able to cope? Was thinking just taking a positive straight from the regulator, would that be ok?

Cheers

4 amps is about 50 Watts so as much as your headlamp takes. Thats an awfully large extra load on a fairly weedy alternator and regulator.....

If you wanted to wait a short while, Father Xmas, I'm reliably informed has put aside a set of these for me :D

I will post up report once I've given them a work out.
In the short term, I have been using skiing gloves, from TK Max's, these are wind proof, water proof, and breathable, and warm :D Generally about £15-£18, but a little bulky to begin with.

Might be safer to plug them into a 12v rechargeable battery, positioned in your air box ?
Lets just get out there, and trail it.

Just thinking about it, would be 48W wouldn't it, doesn't seem too much when you just think 4A lol. So too much too handle without a battery then? Will probably just put them on the 400, which won't be used wuntil summer anyway but never mind lol. Can't see a rechargeable battery lasting long, you think a standard moped battery is about 4Ah I think, so would last an hour an need recharging again. A level physics, it's all coming back lol.
