Gaskets

Post by 2stroke »

Hello all!
I have a question about gaskets (engine gaskets):

What gaskets are you using? Honda or Athena? Quality difference? Looked on Ebay but no Athena gaskets (One seller showing out of stock). Anywhere else I can buy? What gaskets Leisure Trail is supplying? Where do you buy them normally? What the set of top end gaskets cost roughly? Or just Honda all the way? I know there is an option of doing gaskets yourself, but I don't think that's for me at the moment.
I am just about to open my head (and probably barrel)to inspect the bore (and piston).
Can you reuse them on 2-stroke? And what about Honda part numbers? Or do I just read them off AR parts catalogue? (I suppose it will fit my Mk.3)
Thanks a lot!

I know... :) Questions, questions...

Just called Leisure Trail and ordered top and bottom gaskets (Honda parts and they had them in stock). Also grabbed PV cables too, because one of the cables started to fry. The right cable (with a spring) he can supply only the inner.
Later I will need a help with barrel and piston pictures. Cheers!

Just make sure you order the right part numbers...................they can accidentally give you AR cables, (which are a different to MK3).

Thanks for advice Mark! I will check. The guy asked me what Mk is my bike so will see. Not looked yet, but will be interesting how to put inner cable in an old outer. I thought they sort of sealed. But let see

Its impossible to put an original inner in an outer, unless they are providing the nipples to solder on one of the ends.

Hopefully your outer cable is in good condition, cut off old inner and replace with new, please keep us up to date.

Anyone else bought one of these cables from LT.........

Got some PV cables on back order from LT, they come with soldered nipples, it's quite hard to route them if you haven't done it before, but this all adds to the fun !, got some piccies if required.

Precisely.

Cable suppliers can supply the cable and nipples for next to nothing.

No but not far off, one end had a correct soldered nipple, other end has an adjustable barrel nipple but you have to use your old outer cable, spares are getting thin on the ground now, no more balancer shaft either, think I'm going to make this one the last re build, think I'm going to go back to the 350 LC,s.
