Hi Everyone im in the process of building my engine back up i have had the cylinder honed out which is a standard size and is within the wear size of 66.15mm.I bought new rings from honda and checked them in the bore for the ring gap which is around 0.7mm which is still out of spec as on the crm engine rebuild page the max is 0.6mm i took the cylinder with rings to my friend who honed the cylinder he tried the rings in the unworn part of the cylinder and the ring gap is still bigger than the 0.6 max he couldn't give me an answer without any figures from honda.i was thnking of getting a rebore but now i have bought the rings and fitted them i may as well go with it has anyone else had this issue.i trust my friend as hes been in the engine rebuild service for over 35 years so i know all measurements are correct from him.does anyone know where i can get the info i need

sorry buddy i can't help , the closest thing i have with anything like that is the AR manual which i got a link off here for ,i'm sure the barrels on those are plated so measurements may be different .

I read an article on ring gaps once and they tried various gaps from next to nothing all the way up to ridiculous and the results showed it didn't make any difference. Think it might of been 4T though.

That was a very interesting read.my old rings had a gap of 0.12 mm so a gap of 0.7 has to be a great improvement I'm going to go with it and see how it goes

Warloks I think I'd do the same

For competition use we used to buy a set of rings one size larger, then gently remove material to obtain a close tolerance.
Not sure about a trail bike though .

I would be more worried if the gap was too small as that could cause damage. Too big is not going to cause damage unless it was so big the ring end could get into a port but that would be mm's not tenths
