Help please

Hi again guy's,

I think I am going way beyond my capabilities with taking my bike apart. I have started removing the wiring loom as it is a complete mess. Does anyone know if it's practically expensive to have a new one made up? Or is there anywhere I can buy one?

I am getting worried that I am getting so far into taking things apart that I am not going to have the technical capability to put it all back together. Can anyone advise on how easy/difficult of a task I am making for myself?

So far I have got the engine out, all the panels off, swing arm removed, carburetor and throttle cable removed and have now started removing the loom. I have been removing everything to make the whole bike easier to clean. I want to properly de-gunk the whole thing and shine it up as best I can before putting it all back in.

I'm mainly worrying myself over the wiring, it's stressing me out! Any advice would be very welcome at this point.

photo's, and lots of them, sandwich bags for associated bits.
Looms come on ebay quite often.
Don't lose any pieces and the jigsaw should all fit back together.

Thank's for the vote of confidence, I think at this stage I am just going to have to persevere.

Do you guy's know about removing the light's for a daytime MOT? What is required etc?

If I can just put it on a daytime MOT then I can just negate most of the wiring that's causing me issues I believe. Not sure on what exactly is essential though.

M.O.T. inspectors are like politicians, they all have an opinion, and a take on the rules, but their interpretation is unique to them. Best to go along to the local MOT station and ask the guys there, it's always good to try and build an acquaintance with these people in any case.
If you don't like their opinion, try another one. I used several jobs worth's   , before finding a test shop that lived in our real world.

I see, there is a guy local to me who doesn't really seem to care about the MOT's he hands out. Maybe I should get in contact with him tomorrow and see what the crack is.

Yeah, take lots of pics and label as much as you can with masking tape - write on the tap with a biro where stuff goes etc.

Like Mike said, MOT places vary. But theres no such thing as a daytime MOT, its just a normal one with an advisory to get lights

try BCMT in Tipton, always found them helpful with MOT issues etc.

As long as you don't leave it too long between dismantle and re-assemble you'll be fine, it all goes back together like a jigsaw...remember its a Honda....and if it doesn't or won't fit you're probably doing it wrong.

IMHO...keep the lights it'll make it much more sellable when the time comes, but remove indicators if you have to.
