AR solenoid ???

looking for some info please.
the solenoid that sits on the right hand side of the bike, just behind the 2 stroke oil tank has stopped working.
tested it with a battery and the unit works fine but not getting any voltage to it. on the wiring diagram, the pink cable is showing to go to the cdi unit but the colour changes on the cable :o .

ie: out of the plug for the solenoid its pink with a white line, going into the cdi, its pink with a brown ring :D .

the bike is buckerooooooing like mad when you shut the throttle and from my vast amount of searching on here, i have found that the solenoid is feeding the air flow to the pilot jet at low speed, if its not working then im running rich on closed throttle and would just like an insight in to it basic workings so i can further my investigations.

Thanks Steve.

cant find any info on the web about this and its driving me daft. am i right in guessing that the TPS sends the signal to the cdi to put power on to the solenoid in question.
