Got myself a MK1 and looking to get into greenlaning and H&H easy enduros.
I'm 48 and never done any off road stuff but have done a few track days on a gsxr srad
Not got it taxed or insured yet so where can I ride it in the Midlands just to get a feel for it.
Went upto the Ashby de la zouch practice track today but way to muddy and fast for me at the moment and thought me and my Mk1 wouldn't cope so went home!
I once went past a fairly flat track on the A5 in Northampton.... is it still there?

An MX track is not the best place to start off road riding. The riders will generally be much more experienced than you and their bikes will certainly be much better under those conditions.
CRMs are much better suited to softer riding down lanes and such like.
Try to find your local Trail Rider Fellowship (TRF) group and join them on a few rides to find out some local legal routes.
There are a few 'enduro' tracks around the country, one in Northamptonshire that I forget the name of.

I am in Dudley and although I havent been more than a mile on my crm - here is a list of stuff i have put together from a few google searches as I too want somewhere I can go and play at my own pace. I keep promising myself i will take her out one day and get some confidence on it.
Never know one of them might be ideal for you, equally they might be useless suggestions, have a look on the net dont forget to let me know where is best!

Sounds just like me..... LOL
Came accross another flatish track the other day not far from Coleshill M6 J4
Take a look at Maxstoke on Youtube...
Fancy trying it out in a few weeks????? Might as well both look slow together than the odd one on your own.
Anyone else!

There is a big TRF group up the road from you. The East Midlands TRF meet at Shardlow

or try this group, not TRF but similar (many are trf members)
