I had a quick search around and could only find people who have used it, not anything of how it was done,

I want to put a white XR400 rear fender on my bike, they look very similar to those on the CRM.
anyone know whats involved? from what I can tell the bolt holes are in the right spot and its the right shape for the side panels...

Im going to also fit a white rear fender with an acerbis white front motard fender :D
hopefully will make the CRM look a little more modern.

yeah, it states that no1 has done it yet, not that its impossible.
if someone has tried it, please let me know

but I recon they look identical!

Aftermarket supermoto style tail for the same model

Ill go have a real hard look at my rear fender tonite before ordering... looks basicly the same though.
mouts are in the right spot, its the right width and side panels should match that shape
only issue may be that the after market straight tail exposes part of the subframe???

After matching up some scaled pictures in photoshop I have come to a couple findings.

Yes the 96-2004 XR400 rear fender will fit, but it has 1 major fitting issue

there will be a gap on unknown size (at least 10mm) between the lip of the tail and the side panels.
this will look rather unsightly

looks pretty good, if only that gap wasn't there...

I might just hold off on that idea for now, If I can find something to fill the gap with that wont look tacky I will go ahead with the idea, but untill then Im not wasting my money

Note: the gap which Im talking about is not a necessarily a void where there is no plastic, there will still be white rear fender visable in the gap, it just wont be flush with the surface, it will be recessed in by 5-10mm, because on the XR that section would be sitting under the side panels.
