exhaust leak...looking for the gasket

Hey Guys, I clearly have an exhaust leak and its time i fixed it. You can hear when idling from far away and its leaking black oily spooge out the bottom of it down the frame.
So can i just put some exhaust gasket material on it or do i need to buy the gasket or oring or whatever goes in there? Any other model bikes that will fit it?
Thanks

There is a gasket for the cylinder/expansion chamber junction. I think it is common across models but I'm not sure.

I have found, also a smear of RTV sealant [heat proof silicone] works a treat in conjunction with a new seal, some of the header spigots have strange wear patterns to them, and the RTV just helps seal them up completely.
I use 4xbrass exhaust manifold nuts to secure the pipe in position, these are ideal as they don,t rust.

I think i am missing something from in between the exhasut and the head.
Does anybody have a picture or diagram of what it's supposed to be there?
I had a look at the manual and non eof the exploded diagrams focus on the exhasut area.
Is there supposed to be something oring shaped but made of metal in between there?
Kinda like this?

Can't remember what MK you have mate but I think its an AR? Exhaust gasket P/N is 18291-KAE-870 and is also used on TRX650FA3 thru' 9.

According to Mk1 parts manual exhaust gasket is 18291-KAE-000 but I have been supplied 18291-KAE-870 by LT (which is listed as fitting the Mk3) and it fits a Mk2 barrel so I think the gaskets are common across all the CRM250s.

i seem to be leaking between the two exhaust units (where the exhausts join just above my right ankle when on the bike). the spline-type things look a bit tired and the jubilee clips are done up pretty tight, do you think using heat proof sealant would work there too?

jubilee clip?....
I think there should be a kind of sleeve gasket in there - can you show a pic?
what exhaust do you have?

What I've done in the past is use thick heatshrink tubing. Two layers just to be sure

.

I was right, there should be a sleeve that fits inside between the two pipes - on an AR exhaust the Part # is 18391MN1670. £11.13 called muffler packing.

If you are talking about the original expansion chamber and silencer then Skidmark is correct with the part and number that fits all CRM 250s. Also bracket that goes around (like jubilee clip but designed for the purpose) pn. 18374MN1670. Together cost just over £20 exc VAT. I bought both when rebuilding my Mk1 so have in unopended packaging

.
You can have both for £11 inc postage if you want. Sometimes I feel like a Honda parts dealer for all the spares I have bought unneccessarily

. (You wouldn't believe the stuff I've got

- and please don't mention the brand new Mk1 fork gaitors and clips I bought for just under £100 by the time all the costs from Rinkya had been put in

)
Edit - Now sold these parts 12/11

i know that my front end is a DEP and i'm assuming that the tail pipe is the original (my bike was given to me as a bit of a mongrel so i'm still working out which bits are original and which are aftermarket).
I'll take a couple of photos tonight or tomorrow and post them up but something like that sleeve sounds like it'd be the right thing for the job, currently there is no sort of gasket/sleeve/anything to seal the join.

The tail pipe is genuine Honda, the part number appears to be HM KAE K3, and the down pipe is a DEP. Lucky whilst rummaging around some of the spares i inherited with the bike we found an old (the original?) rubber connector that sleeves over the two pipes so i'm going to stick that on for a bit whilst i'm fashioning a new sleeve that with fit snugly.
does anyone else have a DEP/Honda pipe that they could take a photo of so i could see what they're meant to look like?
