Black Boxes CRM Ignition Modules

Post by Russell »

Does any body have any black boxes they do not want because they are not working.
The reason that I ask is I see on both this and another CRM website that these seem to fail quite often and as a Director of an electronics company I would like to have a look inside to see what breaks and what can be done to repair.
I would idealy like parts off a MK3 as I have a known good unit on my own bike for comparision.
If you could also let me know what faults where seen when using the box it helps diagnose.
If anyone can help let me know and I will give you the address to send them to.

Regards

Russell.

Russel, i have my spare working unit from my AR when i replaced it with my MUGEN unit.
If i knew it would come back working and undamaged then i would lend you the MUGEN unit to take a peek into, and the differences.

Admin, Without looking at a box I can not be sure but they will not be very complecated and I would guess a Mugen unit will be very identical to a Honda one.
I would imagine that they will both be driven by a PIC or simaler device and the main difference will be the code in this PIC.
My thought is to repair a non working unit this should be easy as PIC very unlikely to be at fault and all other components probably standared.
What if I understand you would like is to make Mugen or upgrade Honda.
The PIC contains a security fuse if this has been blown and that is very likely, then I can not read back the code inside, if not blown then easy to read back and write to new PIC therefore could make new units.
This code is compiled so even if I can read could not alter without source code.
I would still prefer to start with a known defective unit and learn from this.

Thank you for the offer though.

Hi Mr. Admin,

Do you still have your old CDI unit from when you upgraded, and would you consider selling it? Pretty please?!?!?
