I have a mirror that folds down from the perch on the handlebar, so no protrusions to get in the way when the tarmac finishes, but easily flipped back up once back on the black top.

Yeah- seen those foldy jobs, but not sure how useful they are. The 'under the bars' ones look good, but are just as bad for ripping your kneecaps off. I just prefer no mirrors for trailing- they just catch too much brush and are painful when you fall on them. I had a friend break multiple ribs on his. I even think no mirrors makes me look around much more and be more aware of traffic..... However, it does give me big blind spots, especially with a neck brace on... Try to wear an open face helmet when riding in town.

My front brake was crap and bled it countless times, new bad but still bad.
Fitted a new disc and it is now great with full pressure feel at the lever on half the stroke.

altho - for sure the fluid is shagged- hoping a clean and bleeding the brakes will help..

min thickness is 4mm I think

The grooves in the metal disc and ridge on the edge where the pads rub tells me it needs changed- I did both of mine last month and put cintered pads on too- they are much better. The pads nowadays are almost tougher than the discs themselves, so wear them away after a year or so of heavy use...Saying that my YZ brakes were just awsome compared to the CRM's.

Judging by the rest of the brake system, its definately worth changin it. The new pads just wont work 100% on an uneven surface like that.

arggh!!!! up to my neck in it now - wished I'd never started moaning about the brakes...

well luckily they arent that expensive! ( 22 quid to 35 quid to 50 quid.. ) ( my CRM was pretty cheap - project kind of bike luckily )

thinking I will tackle cleaning and checking the seals on calipers first...

but actually held up since waiting for brake hose,,, makes sense to do it all in one go,,,

else I'll be bleeding the bleeding brakes for bleeding ever..

Seals should be OK, unless perished and then you will be losing fluid. Best thing- new discs (I paid about 30 dollars each disc), new pads (15 dollars each) then bleed the system and new fluid- 5 dollars and 1/2 hour time.
Mind you, mine were much better, but I still can't pull a 'stoppie' on mine. In my view these particular Nissin brakes are just not very good (compared to others I have used, which would throw you over the bars)!!
