Sorry to hear that. At least you saved on labour costs and know that you have done a good job if you rebuilt it yourself.
The other plus point is that your can now offer invaluable advice to other crm250 dot commers...

I had same problem a while ago. I traced the fault back to the kill switch. Corroded contacts were causing the problem The switch is easy to strip down with a set of watchmakers srewdrivers. Crap design if you ask me as the underneath of the switch is open to all the crap and water. When I get around to it i will fit a decent one.

Don't know if this has been mentioned, or if you've sorted the problem, but check out the side stand switch. If this has had water in it, been damaged, is gunked up, corroded etc it will stop the bike running.
These problems tend to be something simple, so look at all of them before getting into failed CDI boxes etc, the sealed electonics rarely go wrong.
It could even be down to something as daft as a bad earth.
