intermitant spark

hi, a bit new to crm s (i own crf x and cr s )
i got hold of an 1992 mk 2 crm, but have trouble with an intermitant spark, it will run for maybe a minute then cut out under load, any ideas would be appreciated, jim

Hi Jim, try side stand switch, if still fitted.

thanks for that rustyone,i have tried this and the kill switch, i reckon i have tracked it down to a faulty connection from behind the headlamp, there is a small pot in black rubber with two wires coming out, when i wiggle those the engine cuts out,any idea where i could get another one ? sorry if i sounf a bit vague, i have owned upwards of 20 different CR S , but thes crm s are a whole different ball game to me,

Black cylinder? The item you are talking about is a capacitor. They usually don't break so there are quite a few around.

Rusty is splitting a bike at the moment so he might have one?

probably a loose/damaged wire - quite common for the wires to get pinched in the headstock if your wiring is getting messy behind there...
