strange noise?

My Mk 2 makes an audiable clicking sound which seems to come from the left side of the engine when you are slogging it in too high a gear, the noise only occurs quite low in the rev range and disappears as the revs increase or if you change down (same thing really). I'm wondering if it is power-valve related or as Paul (Admin) suggests it may be chain & sprocket related but after inspection this seems OK. Any ideas.

Im pretty sure theres another post somewhere on here about the clicking sound - could just be a bit of chain lash but certainly nothing to worry about..

Ah - does it sound like piston slap ?? ie 30 mph in top, and open it up using the engine grunt ?? sounds like a piston slap / rattle ??
If so nothing to worry about, some do it some dont. My Mk2 did it really quite a bit yet the AR is not quite as much. Have ridden a Mk2 and Mk3 that didnt do it at all
