Leaky MK3
My MK3 has developed an oil leak, it appears to be coming from the output shaft (though I've yet to take it apart to inspect properly)
Whilst there I also notice that the front sprocket if flapping about on the shaft as though the inner splines on the cog are worn out
Any advice, tips recommendations as I gotta get the right parts and get her back on the road
Assuming it is the output shaft seal, is it easy to replace ?

hello cupid.
for once I might be able to give advice on a CRM,
have just changed mine a couple of days ago, so here goes.
two retaining bolts on the sprocket are the first thing, I put a screwdriver in one of the teeth and turn the sprocket till the chain locks the sprocket.
Then turn retaining plate(washer with teeth) a millometer or so and pull it of.
slacken the chain(back wheel) and you should be able to just pull the front cog of, if not remove the front chain gaurd(two bolts in front of the cog) and remove the chain fro the cog.
For removing the seal I used a small electrical screwdriver(just prise it out) and it almost fell out.
When you put the new seal on put a piece of tape round the spline and just slide on the seal( might need a gentle tap to secure).
job done, seal part number is on what fits what section(page 4 i think)
Only took me five mins which means a very easy job.
You'll see if there's any damage to the spline when it al apart.

Bits arrived, job done, very easy
Got a new chain as well as sprockets, the old one was a 110 link so I bought a 110 to replace it
DOH !
Silly bugger previous owner was running a 525 chain ????
So now teh new one is just a fraction to tight to get it on the first notch of the snail cams, had to file a new notch in the cams to make sure it doesn't rotate whilst riding, oh well, no real problem and it will fit better with my road wheels too as they have a 42 tooth rear sprocket
"Triple S" chains I use, I've used them before on my CCM's and have never had to adjust one or had one break, damned good they are
