AR wiring notes
Given the lack of wiring colours on the Leisure Trail manual and the relatively poor resolution of the available scans of the official Honda manual, I made some notes for myself. Hopefully will be use to others as well. Keith
The CRM250 uses a large capacitor instead of a battery. Thus, DC is only generated when the engine is running and this is fed to the main electrical circuits when the main relay closes (triggered by the ECU).
Red (R): Main 14+ volt feed from regulator. Feeds the capacitor, Ignition switch and ECU connector 1 (Clear connector)
Black and red (BL/R): Ignition switched live. Feeds kill switch, main power relay (as a source for both switched live and coil live) as well as positive feeds for the side stand and neutral light bulbs.
Black and white (BL/W): Kill switched live. Feeds the ECU and provides the positive feed for the two carb solenoids.
Black (BL): Main relay switched live (energised by the ECU earthing the coil). Feeds the instrument panel illumination, front and rear stop switches, tail light, horn switch positive, the feed for the headlamp dip switch and the 5 amp fuse for the indicators.
Green (G): Main frame earth
Pink and Green (P/G): Alternator earth to ECU
Regulator/Rectifier ( 5 wires) The outputs from the 3 phase alternator (yellow: Y) are fed to the combined rectifier and regular which outputs DC +14V from the red (R) output and green (G: earth) wires. A separate earth runs from the ECU 2 connector (Pink and green; P/G) direct to the alternator frame.
Main relay (4 wires) The relay is triggered by the ECU earthing the coil (Black and green: BL/G). The positive feed for the coil and the switch live are both fed from the ignition switch (Black and red: BL/R). The switched output is the Black (BL) wire.
ECU 1: White connector
Red (R): +14 volt feed from regulator
Green and white (G/W): Side stand switch up
Green and brown (G/Br): Clutch switch
Pink and white (P/W): Slow air jet control solenoid (earth to activate)
Pink and black (P/Bl): Idle control solenoid (earth to activate)
White and black (W/Bl): Servo motor positive feed
White and green (W/G): Servo motor negative feed
Black and white (Bl/W): Kill switch live (also fed to the two carburettor solenoids)
Black and green (Bl/G): Main relay (earth to activate)
Black and yellow (Bl/Y): Ignition coil (positive trigger)
Green: Main frame earth
Green and light blue (G/LB): Control box (trigger for temp warning light)
ECU 2: Black connector
Blue and yellow (Bu/Y): Pulse generator 1
Pink and green (P/G): Alternator frame earth
White (W): Pulse generator 2
Yellow and blue (Y/Bu): Throttle sensor wiper
Green and blue (G/Bu): Thermo sensor feed
Light green and black (LG/Bl): Gear selector switch – neutral (also is earth for neutral light switch)
Light green (LG): Gear selector switch (1st)
Light green and yellow (LG/Y): Gear selector switch (2nd and 3rd) – 4th indicated by no conductivity
Light green and white (LG/W): Gear selector switch (5th and 6th)
Red and white (R/W): Throttle sensor and servo sensor common 1
Pink (P): Servo sensor wiper
Blue and green (Bl/G): Throttle sensor and servo sensor common 2
Side stand
Green (G): earth
Yellow and black (Y/Bl): earth for idiot light – “down”
Green and white (G/W): earth for ECU – “up”. The bike should start with side stand down as long as long as the ECU gets a neutral signal
Control box
Yellow and green (Y/G): feed 1 for temperature warning LED
Yellow (Y): feed 2 for temperature warning LED
Red and green (R/G): feed 1 for oil indicator warning LED
Red and black (R/Bl): feed 2 for oil indicator warning LED
Black (Bl): Power feed (from main relay)
Green and red (G/R): oil level trigger from oil level switch
Green and light blue (G/LB): temperature warning trigger from ECU
Oil level switch
Green and red (G/R): positive feed from control box
Green (G): Earth
Note: Switch earths when level is low.
