LOL no mate,anodised legs, re cromed the inners then had a special coating over the chrome to black them out, cannot remember what they called it, it's supposed to lengthen the chrome life by 100% don't know if it's a gimmic but looks good.

But how much so far for all the work carried out (not labour), are you keeping a record of costs.

Any reason you did not bright zinc the nuts and bolts plating.

Cost has been horrendous on this one, good parts are getting harder and harder to find, I can kid myself I have spent £1600.00 to date, but it all the hidden extras off flea bay, parts ordered and not used, parts bought just to use parts of the parts, this bike was a real mess, sat in a barn in Wales for 8 year partially stripped, good thing that the engine was full of oil and relatively clean oil.

The worst has yet to come, brake overhauling, the little rubbers and bolts are crazy prices !

Liked the gold zinc against the black, old school JPS style, did the last one all bright zinc, think this is better.

The water pump was probably the most awkward part of the re build, it looked like the water pump had seized and the plastic cog behind the shaft in the engine was spinning.

New shaft and propellor . £75.00
Seal and bearing kit . £45.00

First seal leaked, removed and fit another . £20.00

Still leaked, cleaned with silicone spray and ran engine for half an hour, it seemed to seal itself, think it just wanted seating, probably would have got away with the first seal but you live and learn.

Ahh.....not just me then.

I did not even factor in the price of a complete AR that I purchased just for spares on my rebuilds.

My rebuilds were just too expensive, but are we doing it to make a profit, of course not, I did it to keep the bikes going and for my pleasure. Better than any alcohol or cigarettes in my opinion.

One of my 3 remaining bikes has just been reserved by a forum member who will collect it end of the month, he got an absolute bargain.

I am going to sell one more bike for £2500 which is a £1500 loss........I am only keeping one bike plus my spares as I am unable to use my left arm (worn rotator cuff if you need to know) enough to ride bikes anymore.

If arm pain gets any worse I think Morphine may have to be used occasionally, I heard its also good for cleaning carbs .

Profit ! Dirty word, no, if I break even and it goes to a good home then I'll be happy, keeping the last MK 3 to ride, really happy with that one and it's got dirty.

It would be really nice if I could keep the re build and buy the AR from you, just to look at an all, dream collection a mint MK 3, a mint AR, all I would have to do is get onto Knackered to build a mint MK 1.!!

Bike now sold to TRF member, hopefully he will be joining in on the Forum in due course, not made much but it has gone to a good home,happy with the price I got for her, a little upset to see her go as I know I won't be able to replace her now due to shortage of parts.

Hope the new owner enjoyed her as much as I did building her
