No compression whatsoever. I'm guessing I've blown a ring.
they only got changed about 300 miles ago,
My guess would be a holed piston. Which might well be less of a problem.
Is the mixture right?

Re: Engine rebuild????????

I tried a few bearing stockists but as the bearings are not run of the mill stuff it was cheaper for LT to provide them (and much quicker).

You will also get bearings with the correct radial internal clearance that way. Standard clearance bearings won't last long in a bike engine, they end up too ...

Re: Hi There

With the front pretty much pulled in all the way you can quite easily push the bike along. They look OK but probably need a bit of work doing. The seller says the wheel bearings and the brakes have both recently been done.

Is it possible that the pads are absolutely brand new and haven't bedded ...

He then rode it down his street and heard a knock in the engine, got pissed and put it up for sale for cheap. I have since only been able to replicate the sound when shifting too low in the rev range.

It might be nothing more than chain slap. It's a single cylinder bike after all. Riding around ...

Re: Sump plug size

long shot...but does anyone know the size of the sump plug? I'm gonna explore the option of heli coil

Plan B would be to drill and tap the existing sump plug to take a little drain plug (M10 or even M8) and then glue the original in permanently with Araldite.

(I just read this idea on t ...

bearings are 28 x 72 x 18

Are you sure? SKF don't list that size. The 63/28 size mentioned by KMk1 is 28x68x18

Scan through your loose change with a magnet, and choose a non-magnetic 2p piece.

You might think I am pulling your legs, but the newer "copper" coins are steel coated in copper.

(any hints on where to get a replacement gasket from would be great )

Simplest thing is to mail-order from Leisure Trail. I think that they imported most of the UK CRMs in the first place, and know them better than most.

Whilst the A/R s isn't adjustable i wonder if it performs the same function,

The AR is a scarily complicated bit of kit in some ways, as it relies on Clever Stuff rather than the spark plug for ignition in some parts of the speed/load curve. Accurate control of the in-cylinder pressure is an ...
